Please note – Amendments to the Healthy Homes Standards became law on May 12. All tenancies with a Healthy Homes compliance start date on or after May 12 can comply with these changes.
Additionally, modern dwellings and relevant apartments, which apply the new heating formula, and have a compliance day between 12 May 2022 and 11 February 2023, don’t need to comply with the heating standard until 12 February 2023.
These changes include:
Alternative Compliance pathway for the Heating Standard if assessed by a qualified heating specialist
Option to use a geothermal heating system to comply with the Heating Standard
Changes to the Modified Standard to allow certain apartments to comply with the Heating Standard at least 1 fixed electric heater of 2kW
Alternative Heating Calculator for rental modern dwellings and relevant apartments and new heating compliance date if using the option
Changes to the tolerance allowance and electric top-up heater clause in the Heating Standard
Option to use qualifying ventilation, instead of extractor fans, to comply with the Ventilation Standard.
